Tara is the central female deity in Tibetan Buddhism. she is a Boddhisattva who blesses and saves mankind from suffering. The name Tara comes from the Sanskrit word meaning "to cross" (as in a body of water). Tara is seen as helping us "cross the ocean of existence." Her right hand extended outward is a symbol of blessing, charity and compassion - 5-3/4" H X 4" W.
